Tuscan Lakes Invites Community to Special 'Welcome Home' For Veteran Wounded in Afghanistan

LEAGUE CITY – After undergoing multiple amputations caused by an explosion while serving in Afghanistan and completing an exhaustive rehabilitation, United States Marine Cpl. Jonathan Dowdell along with his wife and daughter are finally coming home to Tuscan Lakes.

The community is invited to join the Dowdell family for the dedication of their new, custom-built, mortgage-free home by Harbour Classic Builders on Thursday, April 14 starting with lunch from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at The Watershed Church, 1751 E. League City Parkway.

At 2 p.m., shuttles will take guests to the Dowdell’s new Tuscan Lakes home for an inspirational ceremony hosted by Operation Finally Home, a nonpartisan/nonprofit organization established in 2005 to provide custom-built, mortgage-free homes to America’s military heroes and the widows of the fallen, those who have worn America’s uniform and sacrificed to defend our freedoms and values.

A Color Guard and remarks from local dignitaries will be followed by the official presentation of the keys to the Dowdell’s new family home. Those in attendance also can tour the new home to experience this beautiful retreat built specifically for one of our nation’s military heroes.

This marks the 100th mortgage-free residence presented by Operation Finally Home.

To reach Tuscan Lakes from Houston, take I-45 South to the League City Parkway exit. Turn left onto League City Parkway and travel three miles to Louisiana Street. Turn right on Louisiana Street to reach the community’s main entrance and follow the signs to the event parking.
